HP strengthens its commitment to Business Continuity Services.

PALO ALTO, CALIF., JULY 23, 2003 - HP (NYSE:HPQ) today announced the opening of new business continuity facilities and data centers in Philadelphia, PA , Colorado Springs, CO, Toronto, Canada and Lima, Peru. These centers build upon HP's commitment to provide leading multi-vendor business continuity services around the world. Companies such as Advanced Transformer Corporation, Aearo, and American Automobile Association depend on HP's services and expertise to manage business process continuation in the event of a disaster.

The new centers offer solutions that are vendor and platform independent and span HP's Business Continuity Services portfolio. They are highly secure, state-of-the-art facilities designed to expand HP's delivery capability, meet increasing customer demand and respond to an evolving marketplace.

These business recovery centers are designed to help companies proactively maintain or recover their critical business processes following virus attacks, natural disasters or other unforeseen events. In the event of such a disaster, HP can get customers back up and running in as little as ten minutes.

Advance Transformer Corporation (ATC), the industry's leading designer, manufacturer and seller of fluorescent and high intensity discharge (HID) ballasts and LED drivers for commercial, industrial and institutional lighting, enlisted HP for its business continuity plan. HP's Business Continuity Services aid in designing and implementing critical aspects of ATC's business processes, from procedures and testing to recovery time objectives of 8 to 72 hours.

In a report issued in late 2002, market research firm IDC stated that IT Security and Business Continuity are both number one priorities of business professionals, and that these concerns will translate into $155 billion in worldwide spending on products and services in 2006.

The Philadelphia Business Recovery Center is now the largest HP business continuity and office recovery center in North America. The center is already supporting approximately 75 clients and is equipped with expansion capabilities for increased client demands. The Philadelphia center is outfitted with two expandable 750 Kilowatt generators, each capable of sustaining the entire center independently. The center offers redundancy in data communications and is equipped with multiple rehearsal or testing rooms which offer more flexibility and ease of use for customers.

The Colorado Springs Business Recovery Center is located within an HP data center and will be equipped for non-stop multi-vendor support. It has two utility power feeds from separate grids, redundant backup diesel generators, and fuel for 48 hours operating at full capacity.

The two centers in Toronto, Canada, are a result of the facilities gained through the acquisition of INTRIA-HP in 2002. The two new data centers offer Disaster Tolerant Services that provide the highest levels of business continuity and recovery services.

In addition, HP has opened a Recovery Center in Lima, Peru, expanding its operations in Latin America. This center is equipped with a LAN 10/100 with a connection to the HP Peru Network, it has a WLAN signal available and 2 switches with 24 10/100 ports.

Spanning more than 35 countries, HP operates more than 50 recovery centers that assist customers in assessing, planning, and implementing comprehensive disaster recovery plans. With more than 12,000 business continuity customers worldwide, HP provides a full range of consulting services, including risk assessment, business impact analysis, and planned development.
