Crop and Food Research is a Crown Research Institute whose activities involve research related to sustainable land and water use, high performance plants, personalised foods, marine products and biomolecules and biomaterials.
The implementation of Dynamics NAV at Crop & Food Research covered core financials, project management, management reporting, and web budgets.
The core of Crop & Food's business surrounds projects, and Dynamics NAV's jobs and resources, plus HP's advanced project management (PSO) modules were deployed to capture all projects information, capture and control costs, monitor budgets, and effect reporting of progress of projects. The deployment included a significant change to the project costing model for Crop & Food, to a standard cost model for resource costing.
SQL Server Reporting Services was deployed as a management reporting tool.
Crop and Food also required web budgets – a custom .net application was developed which is fully integrated to Dynamics NAV, providing real-time updates. The solution provides a view of a range of project information from profit and loss information to time resources have charged. The tool also enables movement of budgets/resources between projects.
