The implementation of Dynamics NAV at AgResearch involved the replacement of their existing system for contract, project and financial management. The scope of the project also included implementation of Dynamics NAV’s manufacturing functionality to support the AgVax operation, a comprehensive budgeting and forecasting solution based on Cognos Planning, and integration with three legacy systems. The overall objectives of the project were to:
- Improve business process efficiency and effectiveness
- Improve reporting timeliness, accuracy and quality
- Improve systems and subsystem integration
- Eliminate duplicate data entry requirements
- Improve processing speed
- Improve user satisfaction
Key to meeting these objectives was the implementation of the HP Middle Market Solutions "Advanced Project Management" module. This provided functionality additional to the base Dynamics NAV solution in the following areas:
- Contract and contract variation management
- Establishing hierarchical relationships between contracts,
- Contract variations, projects and project phases
- Defining and tracking objectives
- Logging and tracking issues
- Defining and tracking project phases
- Identifying responsibilities and managing approvals
- Recording multiple budgets per project
- Processing job integrated GL journals
- Providing for fixed fee/disb. and milestone based sales invoicing
- Tracking percentage of completion
- Allowing for fixed fee and percentage of completion based WIP
- Document management
