Powering the Adaptive Enterprise
HP is expanding our Service-Oriented Architecture capabilities with new services and worldwide competency centers to help your enterprise synchronize business and IT – so you can turn change into opportunity. HP has extensive experience assisting our customers with large complex integration projects. In our years of work with our Fortune 500 accounts, our customers tell us they are consistently facing these challenges:
“Web services implementations are out of control.”
“We need to better leverage our existing investments in business systems.”
“Technology silos are still too difficult and expensive.”
“It takes too long to get new systems deployed.”
“It’s too hard to get accurate and trustworthy data.”
Many customers are saying they’re considering adopting Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) as a way to tackle these challenges. HP is ready to help – with SOA to power the Adaptive Enterprise.
Leading the way with SOA
HP views SOA as the way to make the Adaptive Enterprise real for our customers.
Separating the hard wiring of business process from its IT implementation allows both to change independently of each other – allowing for synchronization that delivers on the vision of the Adaptive Enterprise. SOA is the key to unlocking the existing dependency of business process on the IT implementation. It encapsulates and defines business processes as services that can be readily re-deployed into new, flexible business processes that are available and discoverable for reuse throughout the enterprise.
Instead of dealing with isolated systems, SOA provides you with understandable services you can call upon and compose into business processes as needed – building systems that can adapt as your business changes.
New services to guide you in planning and building SOA
HP Services has enhanced our service portfolio and developed these new services based on a consistent methodology to help you design, build, integrate, manage and evolve an SOA environment for improved business performance and increased agility:
- SOA Envisioning – intended for large enterprises to develop an understanding of SOA concepts and to identify the benefits and potential impacts on the enterprise
- SOA Assessment – utilizing the HP SOA Agility Assessment approach to help you develop a comprehensive roadmap to guide the adoption of SOA across your enterprise
- SOA Governance and Architecture – establishing the SOA Architecture Program Office to oversee enterprise architecture and the SOA governance model as your enterprise is transformed
- SOA Enablement – leveraging what’s learned from the Governance and Architecture service to prepare your infrastructure for SOA implementation
- SOA Service Development – helping you define, develop and deploy SOA business and IT services across your enterprise, line-of-business or department, as well as at the project level
- SOA Software Development – providing volume and scale in the development and delivery of business and IT services through SOA adoption to provide improved productivity from your deployment teams by utilizing global software development capability
- SOA Management – helping enterprises that are looking to gain control of SOA adoption with management support that includes lifecycle management, services management, monitoring, auditing, analysis, service-level agreements and policies
We are also leveraging the recently announced HP OpenView SOA Manager to facilitate successful SOA implementations – along with other products in the HP OpenView portfolio, as well as third-party products and solutions, such as those from Microsoft, BEA, SAP and Open Source.
New SOA Competency Centers provide concentration of knowledge and expertise.
Located in France, India, Japan and the U.S., HP’s SOA Competency Centers are staffed by SOA experts with architectural and consulting skills complemented by proven, multi-platform software and hardware knowledge and experience.
Each center houses a ready-to-go laboratory and demonstration environment, complete with hardware and software for demos, plus an auditorium, briefing rooms and a benchmark center – creating an ideal location for SOA proof-of-concept activities.
