Protecting the IT infrastructure when perimeter defenses fail
HP believes that the security industry must move from its current reactive approach to security to a much more proactive stance. Proactive security management is one of the three pillars of our security strategy and provides the ability to protect data, applications, systems and networks in the face of ever increasing threats and changing business models.

Traditionally, the focus has been on erecting strong perimeter defenses - this approach has served the IT industry well and it is unlikely that we will be able to discard strong perimeter defenses anytime soon. However, the increasing threat velocity and new attack techniques that we see today threaten to overwhelm these defenses. In effect, we have created a hard shell around our IT infrastructures but we have a soft center within that is vulnerable to worms and viruses that penetrate the shell.

HP’s mission is to deliver policy driven security management across the enterprise IT infrastructure to prevent, detect, warn, log and heal the effects of attacks, security policy violations and other threats.

HP provides a comprehensive security management system with patch management, event correlation, policy management and security auditing. Integrated with new security technologies developed by HP Labs, these solutions are designed to help proactively protect your enterprises’ IT infrastructure.
